About the camp

About Satao Elerai.

Satao Elerai sits in the Elerai Conservation Area, set up with the local Maasai community and the African Wildlife Foundation so that tourism supports both the community and wildlife. Tents and suites face Kilimanjaro.

Game drives run in the conservation area and in Amboseli National Park, where large elephant herds gather around the swamps. Balloon safaris can be added as an extra.

When to go

The camp through the year.

December to March

A high season for wildlife viewing in Kenya, according to KWS, with short grass and mostly sunny weather.

April to June

The long rains. KWS says animals can be harder to see and many roads may need four-wheel drive.

July to December

The other high season in KWS guidance. Sightings are never guaranteed.
