A community-owned wildlife sanctuary on the corridor between Amboseli National Park and the Tsavo ecosystem.
The destination
Community land on an old wildlife route.
Kimana Sanctuary is owned by 844 Maasai landowners and was set up in 1996. Since 2018 it has been managed by Big Life Foundation, with the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and Angama holds a sub-lease for tourism.
It lies on a corridor that wildlife uses between Amboseli National Park and the Tsavo ecosystem. The park is a separate destination, about 45 minutes away by road.
