About the lodge

About Sasaab.

Sasaab overlooks a river valley in the Westgate Community Conservancy, with views to Mount Kenya and elephants coming down to drink below. It was built as a community tourism project, and many of the team come from nearby Samburu villages.

Days mix game drives by day and night with walks, camel rides and village visits, and Samburu National Reserve is about 25 minutes away. Each suite has its own plunge pool.

When to go

The lodge through the year.

December to March

A high season for wildlife viewing in KWS guidance. KWS describes the north of Kenya as hot and dry.

April to June

The long rains. KWS says park roads may need four-wheel drive.

July to December

The other high season in KWS guidance, when wildlife is easier to see. Sightings are never guaranteed.
