About the camp

About Loisaba Star Beds.

At Loisaba Star Beds, handmade four-poster beds on wheels are rolled out onto raised wooden platforms, so guests sleep in the open under the night sky. The platforms sit among rocks in one of Loisaba's eastern valleys, above Kiboko Dam, where a family of hippos lives and wildlife comes to drink.

A shared dining room, sitting room and deck sit alongside. Many guests spend a night here as part of a stay at Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp.

When to go

The camp through the year.

July to March

The high season in KWS guidance for Kenya's parks, when shorter grass can make wildlife easier to see. Sightings are never guaranteed.

April to June

The long rains. KWS says most park roads may need four-wheel drive at this time.

All year

KWS describes Kenya's central highlands as cool and the north as hot and dry, so pack for warm days and cool evenings.
