About the camp

About Galdessa Camp.

Galdessa stands above the Galana River, framed by the Yatta Plateau, with thatched tents shaded by doum palms. Only one group stays at a time, and the camp is self-catering: guests bring their own food, and a resident chef and team look after everything else.

It belongs to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and guests can visit the Trust's orphaned elephants at its Voi unit, at the midday mud bath or at sunset. A vehicle is needed for game drives.

When to go

The camp through the year.

July to March

Kenya Wildlife Service calls this the high season and the best time for wildlife viewing, with sunny weather and shorter grass.

April to June

KWS says the long rains arrive in these months, and many park roads may need a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Any month

Weather varies from year to year and sightings are never guaranteed. We plan around the months you can travel.
