Ol Pejeta Conservancy
A not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in Laikipia County that grew out of a working cattle ranch.
The destination
A ranch turned conservancy.
Ol Pejeta describes itself as a 360 km² not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in central Kenya's Laikipia County. It says it evolved from a working cattle ranch, and livestock and wildlife still share the land.
The conservancy offers its own experiences, from meeting the last two northern white rhinos to time behind the scenes with chimpanzees. Several camps and lodges work on or beside the conservancy.

The conservancy through the year.
The high season in KWS guidance for Kenya's parks, when shorter grass can make wildlife easier to see. Sightings are never guaranteed.
The long rains. KWS says most park roads may need four-wheel drive at this time.
KWS describes Kenya's central highlands as cool and the north as hot and dry, so pack for warm days and cool evenings.
