About the lodge

About Saruni Samburu.

Saruni Samburu opened in 2008 as the first lodge in the Kalama Conservancy, and its villas are built into a volcanic rock face with wide views over northern Kenya. Solar power runs the lodge.

Guests drive in the conservancy and in Samburu National Reserve, by day and at night, and can sit in a photographic hide by a waterhole. Walks, cultural visits and trips to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary can be added.

The long rains. KWS says park roads may need four-wheel drive.

July to December

The other high season in KWS guidance, when wildlife is easier to see. Sightings are never guaranteed.
